Wenzhou derives its name from its temperate humid mid-subtropical monsoon climate. It has neither bitter winter nor scorching summer; whereas there are abundant sunshine and precipitation, diversified and charming mountain and water landscapes which has won it a fame of "the best landscape in Southeast China". The northerly winds from the inlands prevail in winter, causing low temperatures and little precipitation; the southerly winds from the ocean prevail in summer, bringing along humid air, large precipitation and high temperatures. Spring weather is volatile, often with lingering rains. It is mostly "clear and crisp" in autumn as a result of the stable airflow. There are 241-326 frost-free days around the year.
