Background analysis of the climate in Weihai

Weihai in the east of Shandong Peninsular has a warm temperate sub-humid monsoon climate, with apparent changes of seasons. Due to its closeness to the Yellow Sea, the climate of Weihai is featured by cold spring, cool summer, warm autumn, temperate winter, small temperature variance between day and night, long frost-free period, frequent heavy winds, and high humidity.
Spring warms up slowly, with volatile weather, heavy winds, low precipitation, and low temperatures. Spring in coastal areas is longer than that in the inland regions, which has most of the heavy winds within a year due to the strong cyclone activities. Summer is the shortest of the four seasons, with high temperatures and high precipitation. In autumn, it is clear and refreshing with temperature higher than that in spring. Before September 20, the warm and humid air masses are still active, producing a lot of precipitation and sometimes affecting the autumn harvest. After September 20, the cold air invades from the north, bringing lower temperatures and precipitation, less cloud cover, and more sunny days. Winter is the longest season with low temperatures and precipitation, but it is not severely cold, as is seen in January with an average temperature of -0.9℃. Affected by the northern cold highs, it is haunted by northerly heavy winds.
