Anshan on the southeastern edge of the Songliao Plain has a temperate continental monsoon climate whose main features are: four distinct seasons; co-appearance of rain and heat and of dry and cold weathers; ample precipitation, adequate temperature, rich sunshine; occasional outbreaks of strong winds, hail, droughts, floods, frost and other disasters at different time, in different years and to varying degrees. In spring there are often high winds, scarce precipitation, long sunshine hours, rapidly rising temperatures, intense evaporation, low humidity; in summer rich and concentrated precipitation, heavy downpours, high but not extreme temperatures; in autumn, clear skies, significantly less precipitation and radical temperature drop; in winter, scarce snow, prevailing north wind, dry and cold weather. Although within the same climate zone, different parts have different weathers due to different geographical conditions (landform, topography, distance from the sea). Anshan has a yearly precipitation ranging 640 to 680mm from southeast to northwest, an average temperature of 8~9℃ for the plain areas and 6~7℃ for the eastern and south-eastern mountains, 2350-2,700 sunshine hours from northwest southeast.
